GPM Associates
Founded in 1947 by Charles Forbes in Rochester hence the name “Forbes Products.” Forbes sold the business to Bud Frame in the late 1980’s and Tom bought the company from Bud in January, 1998. In 2000 they acquired a company called Graphik Vinyl and established two divisions ---- Forbes Custom Products & Graphik Promotional Products. We changed the corporate name to GPM Associates, LLC. The letters “GPM” stand for Tom’s wife, Gloria P. McDermott.The Forbes division markets itself as primarily being in the custom packaging information business. The Graphik division’s core products are vinyl and leather business accessories but it recently introduced over 88 new products in 20 product categories. GPM manufactures, customizes and decorates many products at the 72,000 sq. ft facility in Dansville, NY. In Dansville, some of the more popular products they manufacture include binders, padfolios, planners, check presenters and memo jotters. They also import and decorate newer items such as clocks, calculators, tools, pens, etc.
GPM is a second generation family business with both generations still active in the business. Sons Mark, Jim and Andy own and operate the business.
GPM employs about 130 people at their Dansville and Rush locations.
The company supports a number of programs in Dansville (e.g., Food Pantry, Cancer Walk) and Rochester (e.g., Volunteers of America, Catholic Charities).and contributes to United Way in both communities. The employees organize the Dansville Cancer Walk.
