Extra Mile Transportation
Extra Mile Transportation was founded in Buffalo in 1995 by
Anthony J. Baynes as a third-party logistics and freight brokerage
company, operating in all areas of the transportation industry: truck,
air, sea and rail. In the 11 years since its founding, Extra Mile has
grown to become one of the leading third-party transportationproviders in the country, with branches in 10 U.S. cities. The firm has experienced growth each year and has been named in Inc. Magazine’s List of Fastest Growing
Privately Held Companies the last three years. Plans are under way to add four more
branch offices.
Three generations of the Baynes family are actively involved in the company, which today employs approximately 40 people. Anthony’s father, Samuel, and his sister, Karen, work in the firm’s finance department and his son, A.J., is active in sales and marketing.
Extra Mile supports several local charities and community organizations. Anthony Baynes sits on various boards, including that of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He and his wife, Eileen, recently chaired the March of Dimes Gala in Buffalo and participate
in several area charitable organizations, including the Children’s Hospital fund drive.
