Culligan Auto Place
Three generations have helped the Culligan family become
synonymous with automotive retailing in Western New York and
today Culligan Auto Place is one of the most successful dealerships
in the Greater Buffalo area.In 1932, Cas Culligan founded Culligan Motors, a Pontiac dealership which today is run by his nephew, Jim Culligan, as Jim Culligan Pontiac, GMC, Volvo. Jim’s brother, Thomas C. Culligan, owns Culligan Auto Place, Inc., which was founded in 1986 and merged with Culligan Lincoln Mercury eight years later.
Today, Auto Place sells and services Toyota, Scion, Lincoln, Mercury, Porsche and previously owned automobiles. Auto Place employs 73 full and part-time workers. A
third generation of the Culligan family, Thomas’s son, Brian, serves as vice president
and general sales manager. Thomas Culligan’s wife, Marlene, is corporate secretary.
Auto Place has enjoyed a solid record of growth over the years, which is attributable in part to a willingness to reinvest in the company through increased capital expenditures and ongoing training of employees.
The firm supports numerous civic and community organizations in the Buffalo area, including the Clarence Rotary, Toys for Tots, Studio Arena Theatre and the American Lung Association.
