Sentry Group, Rochester, NY. Founded in 1930 by John Brush and his brother-in-law William Punnett, Sentry Group began as a maker of home safes and has grown to become a worldwide leader in the manufacture of fire resistant safes, file cabinets and storage containers. The company employs 500 and produces two million safes each year. Sentry Group a third generation family business. Richard Brush, John Brush’s son, is chairman emeritus of the company and accepted the Galanis Prize on behalf of the firm. His nephews, Douglas and James Brush, are CEO and chief operating officer, respectively, at Sentry Group.
