Eltrex Industries of Rochester was formed more than three decades ago, primarily as a manufacturer of electromechanical assemblies, power supplies and transformers for the Xerox Company.Eltrex, a 2000 recipient of a Galanis Award for Excellence in Family Business, has continued to grow and diversify and today employs more than 100 workers.
Twenty-six years ago, Eltrex began manufacturing industrial vacuum cleaners which today are still used by Xerox service technicians. Eltrex-manufactured industrial vacuum systems are sold worldwide and Eltrex is the world’s largest maker of industrial vacuum cleaners marketed to the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The company also continues to manufacture electromechanical assemblies, power supplies and transformers.
Eltrex’s Monarch Company, provides document solutions and processing services.
Two generations of the Augustine family run Eltrex. Matthew Augustine is the company president and CEO, while his son, Malcolm Augustine, and brother, Ronald Augustine, are senior vice presidents. Matthew Augustine’s wife, Rita Augustine, sits on the Eltrex Board of Directors.
Eltrex is profitable and has exhibited financial growth over the years. In the last year alone, the company saw sales increase 25 percent.
The company, minority owned and operated, is involved in charitable endeavors, donating to the Urban League of Rochester and Boy Scouts of America. The firm also donates to black history and scholarship funds.
